A seasoned executive, academic, and political figure, he has built an influential presence across the public, business, and academic sectors over the course of his career. Throughout his career, Dr. Afrifa has made sustained contributions to the African and Ghanaian communities in the United States. Early Life and Academic Foundation
Dr. Kwasi Afrifa was born and raised in the Ashanti New Town section of Kumasi, Ghana, where he cultivated a deep and enduring interest in education, community service, and democratic governance. He completed his Sixth Form studies at Tweneboah Kodua Secondary School in Kumawu, Ghana, laying the intellectual foundation for a lifetime of public service.
Professional Career in the United States
After relocating to the United States, Dr. Afrifa established himself in New York before eventually settling in New Jersey. He is currently the CEO of a global healthcare consulting firm in New Jersey and an adjunct professor of Public Policy in New York. His academic credentials include a BBA in Business Administration, an MPA in Public Administration, and a doctorate in Political Science and Healthcare Administration and Policy.
Prior to his tenure at the Ford Foundation in New York — where he served as a Program-Related Investments and Grants Administrator from 2010 to 2011 — Dr. Afrifa accumulated extensive experience across state, city, and local government agencies. His roles included Health Policy Analyst for the New York State Assembly; Research Assistant at the Mayor’s Office of Operations during the Dinkins Administration; Grants Management and Compliance Officer at the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone in New York City; Director of Care Coordination at VIP Community Services in New York; and Assistant Administrator at the Ruby Weston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brooklyn, New York.
In 2024, Dr. Afrifa successfully completed the certificate program in Private Equity and Venture Capital (PE/VC) at Columbia University in New York, with a focus on Mergers and Acquisitions and Real Estate Investments. This commitment to continuing education reflects his dedication to remaining current with industry trends and evolving best practices.

A Legacy of NPP-USA Leadership Journey
Dr. Afrifa is not a newcomer to the Branch’s upper echelons. His leadership credentials are many, but here are a few highlights:
- Joined the New Patriotic Party-North America in 1996 in New York, the precursor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
- Former Vice Chairman of NPP-USA’s New York Chapter (2005-2009)
- Assisted with the financing of a 13- member Ghanaian Diaspora advocacy delegation to Ghana to advocate for ROPAA in 2005.
- Founding member of the Diaspora Vote Committee (DVC), the advocacy organization on the passage of ROPAA in 2006.
- Co-convenor, ROPAA Implementation Conference in Montreal, Canada, in 2006.
- NPP-USA’s Delegate delivered our solidarity message at NPP’s National Congress in Koforidua in 2007.
- Member of Friends of Nana Akufo-Addo (FONAA) from 2008 to 2012
- Pioneer NPP-USA’s Parliamentary Candidate for Mampong Constituency (2008).
- 1st Vice Chairperson of NPP-USA (2009–resigned due to relocation abroad for work).
- Chairman of NPP-USA’s New Jersey Chapter (2022-present).

He is widely recognized for his ability to unify diverse factions within the party and for his unwavering support of its national leadership.

Beyond politics, Dr. Afrifa is an active and engaged member of the Ghanaian community across the tri-state area. He regularly participates in cultural and social events, offering mentorship to younger Ghanaians navigating life in the United States and lending his support to local charitable causes. He also serves as a member and Treasurer of the Board of Directors at the World Plaza Association in Hackensack, New Jersey — a role that further reflects his commitment to civic engagement and community development.
